Our History

The Story of Verbal Ink

In January of 2003, I took a job transcribing documentary footage for a production company, and as the project came to an end, I realized how much I enjoyed learning about a subject that I knew almost nothing about. I wondered if there might be a larger market for transcription services, so I decided to take a chance and start my own company.

I was quite surprised by how quickly the business grew. Before I knew it more work was coming in than I could handle on my own, so I slowly started to build out our team. I found that our customers genuinely loved the high quality of our transcripts and continually referred new customers to us.

In the fall of 2005, we moved into new office space in Santa Monica. Three years later, we needed to move to an even larger office to accommodate our growing team. We’ve continued to provide transcription services for our customers, yet we have also grown additional services that help our customers share their stories.

We now offer foreign language transcription, translation services, subtitling services, localization services, voiceover services and a whole host of writing services.

Verbal Ink has hundreds of linguists on its staff and has managed to become one of most trusted leaders in the language services world.

Other companies have since adopted many of Verbal Ink’s philosophies and strategies for doing business. We’re proud of that accomplishment and hope that our commitment to collaborative innovation allows us to make further meaningful contributions to our field. As Verbal Ink continues to redefine what it means to be a leader in the language services industry, I offer my sincere, heartfelt thanks to our talented staff and our wonderful customers.
