One of our core pillars here at Verbal Ink is to be intentional in the space that we are creating around us. This applies both to our physical office environment as well as how we show up to work each day. There are numerous things that can affect not only our focus, but also our mood. We're already a happy bunch, but we figured why not transform the office with full spectrum lighting.
This kind of lighting isn't a new thing. It's been around for quite some time, and many people report changes in how they feel because they are not taking in the yellow light of typical fluorescent bulbs which is not part of the natural spectrum. So the idea was to try and create a space that would create as little difference from natural daylight on the outside as it would on the inside.
An interesting Fast Company article from 2013 highlights some of the studies that have been done in how typical fluorescent lighting can cause people to be sleepier than being under more natural light. It's still a little early to see what kind of results it will have here, but we love to try new things here at Verbal Ink, so we thought we'd give it a try.
